MTV MAKES THE SWITCH FOR CLIMATE CHANGE
MTV has launched a global ad campaign aiming to help young people address
global warming issues. The 35 ads were created pro bono by a number of
agencies and the campaign's issues will also be addressed in programmes such

COCA-COLA AIMS FOR TEENS ON THE GO
Coca-Cola is reportedly launching Sprite Yard, a social networking site for
teens which hopes to become the Myspace of the mobile world. The service is
apparently already available in China. But after the high-profile isues
surrounding Budweiser's branded content social network Bud.tv, are consumers
really keen to network with brands at all?

LAS VEGAS MARKETS THE AMERICAN DREAM TO ASIAN CONSUMERS
Las Vegas has apparently started a big marketing push aiming at getting even
more Asian visitors to the city. As incomes grow around Asia, casinos are
working out that the gambling culture that already exists within the region
makes Chinese and other Asian consumers an extremely alluring prospect. Read

Absolut goes dark
In an effort to reach out to a more masculine audience, Swedish vodka brand,
Absolut, has produced a dark variant called Absolut 100. In a departure from
the brand's usual clear or smoked glass, the bottle will be entirely black,
and its contents will be the strongest of the range, at 50% abv. Its ad
campaign is expected to launch this autumn.

Chocolate charged
Cadbury is pleading guilty to endangering public health following the
salmonella scare in its chocolate products in June last year. It is facing
several charges including those of not informing the public or the Food
Standards Agency. Possible penalties include an unlimited fine and/or two
years in prison.

Ebay v Google
Ebay threatened to remove $25m (£12.5m) worth of advertising from Google's
sites after the latter planned to run a spoiler event during Ebay's biggest
annual conference. Held in Boston, the event featured sellers, technology
providers and advisors on using the auction site. Google's event was centred
around its new Checkout product, effectively a direct competitor for Ebay's
PayPal system. Google cancelled the event in view of Ebay's proposed action.

iPhone home
AT&T is likely to experience a surge in new customers thanks to its
exclusive provider deal with Apple's iPhone. Despite not yet being launched,
and a $500 (£250) price tag, subscribers on other networks are expressing a
desire to switch when it comes in. It is estimated that the company can
expect almost 1m new customers by the end of this year
